Virtual Goods Provide Real Assistance to USO

Posted on 11 November 2009 by Getmo Games

To help celebrate Veterans Day, social game developer Playdom has initiated a program that will donate a portion of the sale of its virtual goods to the United Service Organization (USO).

Through November 13, USO-inspired limited edition items will be available for purchase to Playdom’s 28 million monthly users. In the first day of availability, over 6,000 people bought a special item. The promotion is expected to raise “tens of thousands” of dollars for the USO.

Playdom VP of Marketing Rachel Thomas stated, “We’re excited to offer a fun and meaningful way for our growing user base to do good. This is the perfect opportunity for our players to support the armed forces in celebration of Veterans Day.”

Playdom’s lineup of games includes Mobsters, Bloodlines, Rockstars and Sorority Life.
