The Entertainment Merchants Association plans to hold its second annual GamePlan Summit September 13 - 15, 2011 at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago, Illinois. The event allows both game publishers and retailers to meet for one-on-one meetings and to discuss strategic issues both sectors face in the year ahead.
"EMA’s GamePlan Summit’s success is due to our exhibitors’ support and their continued effort to rise and meet the challenges of the growing demand for the compelling experience found in video gaming," said EMA President and CEO Bo Andersen. "EMA is pleased to offer a platform for strategic planning and growth for this dynamic segment of the entertainment industry."

The U.S. Air Force is set to unveil a $2 million super computer comprised primarily of PlayStation 3's on Wednesday. Called its fastest super computer to date, the new system has been codenamed "the Condor Cluster" by the Department of Defense.
Researchers at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio used off-the-shelf PlayStation 3's and traditional graphical processing computer components to create the system. The Condor Cluster will reportedly be used for radar enhancement and recognition capabilities, according to the Air Force.
The Air Force added that the $2 million price tag is about 10 - 20 times cheaper than what it would normally cost to build such a system.

The R18+ rating in Australia may have support with some attorneys-general, according to this GameSpot Australia report (thanks Ryan O'Meara).
The Standing Committee of Attorneys-General (SCAG) meeting set for December 10 may be the place for the issue to get some attention; last week ACT Senator Kate Lundy brought up the benefits of the rating system before the senate, and this week Federal Opposition Shadow Attorney-General George Brandis talked to GameSpot AU about the importance of having an R18+.
