Ebay to Discontinue the Selling of In-game Property

Ebay has decided to delist most virtual items on their website. Selling virtual property has been huge for fans of Second Life and games such as World of Warcraft have turned gamers into "gold farmers". Gold farmers will gather in-game currency and sell it to other games for real life currency on auction sites, such as eBay. There are even sweatshops in China and other countries that devote their time specifically for that reason. eBay has decided to prohibit the sale of in-game items for WOW, Everquest II, Ultima Online, and other MMORPGs, but they still allow people to sell items and property in Second Life.

Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console Game Releases

If you own a Nintendo Wii, you have some great classics games to play with Virtual Console. Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past was released yesterday. I love all of the Zelda games so I think this is great. My cousin is an avid gamer but never really got to play any of the old Super Nintendo games so I hope he gets this one and has as much fun as I did.

You can also look forward to playing Super Mario Kart 64 next week. This is one of the funnest games I have ever played. This was the best reason to own a Nintendo 64. That's just my opinion of course. A group of us got together every week to hang out and play this game. It is definitely a fun group activity. Virtual Console is shaping up to be an extremely great tool for Nintendo.

New Entry Ways Into the Halo 3 Beta

Halo 3 is coming to the Xbox 360 sometime this year, but Bungie and Microsoft Game Studios will give players 3 chances to help test the multiplayer part of the game. The Halo 3 beta program will launch this spring.

The only method before now for gamers to be selected for the beta testing period was to register at the Halo 3 Web site and hope that they were chosen. Today Bungie has stated that anyone who entered through this method and are accepted into the program will be notified through e-mail this month.

Microsoft has confirmed that specially marked boxes of Crackdown will include Halo 3 beta keys. Crackdown is an action-driving hybrid. The players goal is to crackdown on crime, decipher the organization of the gangs, and eliminate the kingpins. All strategies and tactics are acceptable as long as the streets are cleaned. Crackdown will be available in North America on February 20.

The last way for gamers to get into the beta test is by playing Halo 2 online. From February 1-3, gamers in the US who play Halo 2 for three hours over Xbox Live will qualify. The first 13,333 gamers who have played Halo 2 over Xbox Live during the specified time period and who register at the Halo 3 Web site will be entered into the beta program.

Oh and by the way, only gamers with an Xbox 360 and a valid Xbox Live Gold membership will be considered for the program, so you better get on that right away if you haven't already. If you live outside of the US stay tuned for details on the "Rule of Three" program in your region.
