Xbox-aroni Pizza...360

Xboxaroni Pizza

Looks like Xbox is teaming up with another peddlar of wares. Domino's Pizza has created the "XII Days of Xbox" for the holiday season, which goes on from Dec. 1 - 12. For everyday that you order pizza from Domino's online website, you have the chance to instantly win Xbox prizes. The only two prizes listed in the press release are an a 48 hour trial of Xbox Live Gold and an Xbox 360 console with Project Gotham Racing 4. I'd prefer the latter, but sadly, Domino's doesn't even deliver to my house. Oh well.

Devil May Cry Demo?

Devil May Cry 4

According to JeuxFrance.com, there is a demo for Devil May Cry 4 in the works, which is scheduled to hit Xbox 360 before the end of the year. On a thread on NeoGaf however, it seems a Capcom representative has stated that there will be a demo for both the 360 and the PS3 sometime in December. Well, whenever it comes out, I can't wait to play it.

The Official DS Download Service

The actual product package for the DSvision service launches in January in Japan, and the download service will launch in March.

Rock Band Drum Mod

Rock Band Drum Pads

If you own Rock Band, you know that playing the drums can be fairly loud. You probably also know that it's hard to stop playing the game and at 2 a.m. in the morning, people are trying to sleep and don't want to hear you banging on plastic. This is why people everywhere are coming up with clever ways to remedy this situation, such as this one. I will definitely be trying this one out, because all the banging kinda makes it difficult to enjoy the music too.

Guitar Hero III For Mac and PC

Guitar Hero for Mac and PC

In exciting news to all of you Guitar Hero fans who don't own one of the next-gen systems, Guitar Hero III is coming to both PC and Mac. Yeah, I said Mac. Weird, huh? The game comes on a hybrid disc which makes the game playable on both operating systems and comes bundled with a USB-based X-plorer guitar. Even cooler is that the game is cross platform multiplayer compatible. Get it on December 10th for $80.

EA Replacing Crap Guitars

Guitar

In a post on the Rock Band forum, EA / Harmonix has commented on the concerns of many Rock Band owners, most importantly the broken guitars. They will replace any guitars that are having problems if you visit the customer service support website. They also comment on the PS3 guitar compatibility issues and that they know of the problem and are working on it. I hope they fix it soon, just in case my Rock Band guitar goes out.

Check out the video below to see the bowling pin part.

UC Berkeley "Video Game Halftime Show"

Rock Band Guitar Fix

Rock Band Guitar Insides

If you are having problems with your Rock Band guitar, there is a fix available, but you have to take the guitar apart. Keep in mind that this will void your warranty, but if you absolutely can't wait for a replacement to ship, then learn how to fix your Rock Band guitar yourself. Luckily, I haven't had any problems with mine yet, but it I do, I'll just send mine in.

There's some new content available for Rock Band in the form of David Bowie tracks. You can download Moonage Daydream as well as two cover songs; Heroes and Queen. The content pack costs 440 Microsoft points or you can purchase each song seperately for 160 Microsoft points. I don't care much for David Bowie's music, so I'll be skipping this one.

Huge Rock Band Announcement On the Way

Rock Band Crowd Photo

MTV Network Music Group executive vice president of program enterprises, Jeff Yapp has made an interesting statement in an interview with Reuters that's likely to keep many Rock Band owners glued to their computer monitors for updates. Jeff stated "We're pretty optimistic about what this game is going to do, but our next big announcement, which is coming up fairly quickly, is a move to a whole other realm." Vague but exciting. I can't wait to hear the news, because I also purchased Rock Band and I'm currently playing the hell out of it, along with the rest of my household.

Wii-Kly Update

Some new games this week that are sure to please...some. Nothing all that exciting here actually. Double Dribble is a basketball game that was actually a ton of fun when it was released in 1987 for the NES, but I just don't see this game entertaining me anymore. The local used video game stores usually sell it for a dollar anyway, if you still happen to own an NES, which I do. Vegas Stakes is a gambling game. If you want a different gambling experience, then pick this up. You can play against 3 other friends too, so that's cool. Lastly, is Ecco Jr.,which is another Ecco the dolphin game, except made for kids. Honestly, I think the regular Ecco games are perfect for kids. Well anyway, there you have it. Check out the official press release below.

Let's hope you all survived the long holiday weekend. With all the eating, traveling and family fun, isn't it time to do something just for you? So take a few minutes and do a little shopping from the comfort of your couch, away from the chaos of the malls. This week you can get into a game of hoops, do a little faux gambling or head out to sea with your favorite dolphin friend.

Three new classic games go live at 9 a.m. Pacific time. Nintendo adds new games to the Wii Shop Channel every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week's new games are:

Double Dribble

DOUBLE DRIBBLE (NES, 1-2 players, rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points): DOUBLE DRIBBLE, the first 5-on-5, full-court home basketball game, is pure hoops action at its finest. While still a surprisingly accurate basketball game for its time, the frantic action keeps you on your toes as your players run from one end of the court to the other. Choose from a handful of teams and multiple levels of difficulty as you take on the computer alone or challenge a friend and see who has the better skills. Take the ball and sink shots from locations all over the court, or get in your opponent's face and do your best to block the shot. Better yet, drive the lane and rock the rim to see one of the game's trademark slam-dunk cut scenes. He shoots, he scores!

Vegas Stakes

Vegas Stakes (Super NES®, 1-4 players, rated E for Everyone – Simulated Gambling, 800 Wii Points): Feel like taking a road trip to Las Vegas? Let your inner high roller go wild as you try your luck at five different games-blackjack, slots, poker, craps and roulette. Start with only $1,000 in your pocket and play your way through five casinos, each with a different theme and varying limits. But no one wants to gamble alone, right? Not a problem, as you'll be able to choose one of four friends to tag along and offer advice when you need it. Further enhancing the experience is the fact that you'll be presented with a slew of interactions with random casino patrons. Best be careful, though-your choices in these situations could either get you closer to the millions of dollars you're after or cost you a pile of that hard-earned cash. Roll the dice, spin the wheel, hit or stand-do whatever it takes to stake your claim in Vegas and beat the house!

Ecco Jr.

Ecco Jr. (Sega Genesis, 1 player, rated E for Everyone, 800 Wii Points): The aquatic adventures of Ecco come to life for a younger generation of gamers. Perfect for kids, Ecco Jr. finds our young hero heading out to sea with a variety of tasks he must perform in order to get there. Along with his friends Tara the baby orca and Kitnee the young Atlantic dolphin, Ecco Jr. will interact with sea lions, sea horses and other aquatic life as he makes his journey to the Big Blue. Introduce your kids to the classic series of Ecco the Dolphin titles by downloading Ecco Jr. today.

Rock Band Guitars Can't Take The Heat

_blank

It seems that there are problems arising with the guitar controllers packaged with the Rock Band bundles. People are reporting that the Fender Stratocaster controller "down strum" isn't working. Either it won't work at all, or it will register twice. These problems seem to be occurring after the guitar has been played for a few hours and not directly out of the box. If you see these problems, reset the system. If you still have problems, you'll have to send it in for repairs. Here's the Rock Band warranty page. I hope my controller doesn't break...dammit.

Orange Box Demo Out Today on Xbox 360

_blank

If you haven't already purchased the Orange Box for the Xbox 360, you're crazy, but now you can try it out. Some of it anyway. Half Life 2: Episode Two will be available sometime today. Valve has stated that this is the first demo available from the Orange Box, presumably meaning there may be other demos on the way.

Unreal Tournament on PS3 Ready To Go

_blank

Man in charge, Mark Rein of Epic Games has confirmed that the Playstation 3 version of Unreal Tournament 3 has passed all tests and has been approved by the SCEA. Now that the game has gone gold, production will start right away. Looks like you get to play it before Christmas after all.

Win a Playstation 3

_blank

Playstation.com is having a cool contest in which you can win an 80GB Playstation 3 Motorstorm game pack and five other games. If you are camera shy though, there's no need to apply. In this contest, you have to create a two minute video explaining why the PS3 is the best next-gen gaming console. I know for many people out there, this may be a tough one, since you probably don't really believe it's the best console, but hey, nobody else has to know. Just get as creative as possible and you may have a chance.

New Nintendo DS Holiday Bundles

Nintendo DS Holiday Bundles

There's some new Nintendo DS holiday bundles for the kids on your Christmas list, or you, which you can pick up starting this week on Friday, November 23rd. The new gold edition comes with The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and the Metallic Rose DS comes with the "Best Friends" version of Nintendogs. Sounds good. More money for Nintendo. It is an awesome system though, I can't lie.

Playstation Network Update Comes Early

There's some new stuff on the Playstation Store a little earlier than usual this week. There's some Playstation Eye games; Operation Creature Feature for $4.99 and Aquatopia for $1.99.

There's also a demo for MX vs. ATV: Untamed and a Flow Expansion pack for $2.99.

Add-on content consists of downloadable songs for Rock Band at various prices and a Need For Speed Collector's upgrade for $9.99. For the Thanksgiving holiday, you can also get Calling All Cars, fl0w, Pixel Junk Racers and Everyday Shooter for only $4.99. I just downloaded Everyday Shooter.

Uncharted DJ Mix

Uncharted MP3 Photo

If you'd like to listen to some music from Uncharted: Drakes Fortune game on the PS3, you can! One song! Ok, it's not that exciting, but the cool thing about this song is that it's mixed by DJ Shadow and was created exclusively for the game. Listen to The El Dorado Megamix.

Rock Band Downloads Already Here

Rock Band Gameplay

Rock Band just came out yesterday, and I have to say that the game kicks ass. If you bought it, you probably agree with me and if you are absolutely nuts and have already played the game so much that you want more songs, you're in luck. You can download three song content packs for Metallica, The Police, and Queens of the Stone Age. The packs cost 440 Microsoft points each over Xbox Live and $5.49 on the Playstation Store. Check out the list below.

Metallica:

  • And Justice For All
  • Blackened
  • Ride the Lightning

Queens of the Stone Age:

  • 3's & 7's

Hitman: Blood Money and Mass Effect Soundtracks

Hitman: Blood Money Soundtrack

In what is becoming increasingly popular, video game soundtracks are being released all over the place. As of yesterday you can pick up the award-winning music soundtrack for Hitman: Blood Money from iTunes and Sumthing Digital. Today you can pick up the soundtrack for Mass Effect in stores. The Mass Effect soundtrack contains more than an hour of original music from the game.

Halo 3 Map Pack Coming Soon

Halo 3 Foundry Screenshot

In an official announcement from Microsoft, the very first map pack is finally coming to Halo 3 owners. The "Heroic Map Pack" will contain three new downloadable maps; Foundry, Rat's Nest and Standoff, and will cost 800 Microsoft points. You can expect to download these maps on December 11. If you don't want to pay $10 dollars for 3 maps though, just wait until Spring 2008, when they will be available for free.

Sony Cuts Price on Dev Kits

Since Sony created the Playstation Network, it's much easier for smaller developers and indie studios to try their hand at making games for next-gen consoles but the price of the development kit is a bit steep for people with smaller budgets, so Sony has decided to cut the price of the PS3 SDK almost by half, which is about $10,250 in North America.

Don't think that this is in response to slow sales of the system or a last ditch effort to get some games on the system, but it's just something that normally happens. The same thing happened with the Playstation 2 as well. The company has stated that "As more and more new titles are developed for the PS3 format, SCEI will significantly reduce the price of the Reference Tool." This should definitely help out the Playstation 3 though, and I'm really hoping it does.

Virtual Console Update

Some more goodies this week on the Virtual Console. Too be honest I don't know much about any of the games available this time around. I've never heard of Wreaking Crew, but it looks interesting. It has both Mario and Luigi in it, although you can barely tell, so that's cool. I remember when Sonic 3D Blast came out, and I wasn't interested in purchasing it. Same goes for today. The last release of this week is Super Air Zonk. This game looks like it could be a lot of fun, then again, everything in that series was. Check Nintendo's press release below.

Wii celebrates its first anniversary today, and big stars from past consoles are coming out to help Nintendo celebrate. Luminaries walking the Virtual Console red carpet this week include Mario and Luigi, Sonic The Hedgehog and Zonk. So throw on your best tuxedo or finest gown, and get ready to party with these video game A-listers.

Wrecking Crew

Wrecking Crew (NES, 1-2 players, rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points): In the days before Mario and Luigi became sports stars in their downtime between plumbing and saving the Princess, they tried their hands as one-man wrecking crews. With a hammer as their only tool, players take control of the brothers and set out to destroy ladders, rip out pipes, knock down walls and detonate explosive devices. But make sure to plan your path of destruction carefully, as each building is designed as its own clever puzzleóif you're not careful, you can easily trap yourself in a dead end. Adding to the excitement and challenge are fireballs, enemies and an angry foreman roaming the buildings. They're all trying to stop you from moving on to the next stage. With 100 buildings to demolish and the ability to construct your own, it's a wonder Mario and Luigi ever got back to saving the Mushroom Kingdom.

Sonic 3D Blast

Sonic 3D Blast (Sega Genesis, 1 player, rated E for Everyone, 800 Wii Points): The evil Dr. Eggman (aka Dr. Robotnik) stumbles upon an alternate dimension where some odd birds called Flickies have the ability to travel anywhere. In order to get help in his search for the Chaos Emeralds, Dr. Eggman transforms the Flickies into robots that will help him track down his coveted gems. Of course, it's up to our favorite blue hedgehog, Sonic, to step in and save the day. Jump into this 3-D adventure as Sonic or his buddy Tails, and collect the golden rings to help free the Flickies and defeat the doctor.

Super Air Zonk

Super Air Zonk (TurboGrafx16 CD-ROM, 1 player, rated E for Everyone ñ Mild Cartoon Violence, 800 Wii Points): Zonk is back in Super Air Zonk, the sequel to the shooting game spin-off of the Bonk series, Air "Zonk." Now moving to a rockabilly beat and able to transform into nine different characters, Zonk lets loose through seven action-packed stages in another battle against his arch nemesis, SandroVitch. Power up Zonk with the classic Meat item, eventually turning him into the champion of justice, Ultra Zonk, or the fearsome Tyrano Zonk in the latter stages of the game. After rescuing his friends from enemies, Zonk can also morph with them to combine powers. Fight enemies with killer tunes belted out from a trusty microphone. Hurl freshly made sushi at them. With its variety of wacky attacks, Super Air Zonk has a sense of humor all its own.

PS3 Firmware Update Coming Soon

Sony has announced another firmware update that's scheduled to come soon. I'm guessing probably this Wednesday. No specifics for the update have been mentioned yet, but it a fairly minor one, which will improve the stability of the PS3.

Two Wii Games, Third Free

Toys R Us Ad - Wii Deal

If you head on over to Toys "R" Us this week, or at least until Wednesday, you can get a killer deal on Wii games. If you buy two games, you can get a third one free. And if you got the $25 gift card last week from buying Super Mario Galaxy, the deal is even sweeter.

Video Game Rap: Super Barrio Bros.

Super Barrio Bros.

If you like video games and you like rap music, this may just turn out to be the greatest day in your life. Ok, maybe not the greatest, but you'll be a little more happier at least. Producer, 8-Bit Bandit and Project Blowhed's Dumbfounded have teamed up to create a "video-game-enhanced" hip hop album. You can pick up Super Barrio Bros. for only $8.95 too. Visit the site to buy the album or to listen to a few sample tracks.

Call of Duty 4 PC Patch Released

Call of Duty 4

The first patch for the newest in Infinity Ward-Activision's first person shooter, Call of Duty 4, has received it's very first patch. This patch pushes the game up to version 1.1. The patch doesn't do much though. What this latest patch does, is address the issue of Rank/Stats resets when users move from a Modded/Unranked server to a Non-Modded/Ranked server. Yeah, not much, but nobody likes to lose their rankings or statistics no matter what game it is. I'd be pissed if my high-score on my old Gameboy Tetris cartridge disappeared.

Playstation Network Update

More good stuff this week. For demos, you get Toy Home and Blazing Angels 2. Both look like they will be a lot of fun.

The videos this week consist of a Playstation Network Video, Uncharted "MTD video, a Ratchet BTS - Animation, Ratchet BTS - Gameplay, TimeShift FPS video, Burnout "Playground" video and trailers for Battlefield: BC, Toy Home, High Velocity Bowling, Pain, and Time Crisis 4.

Lastly, there are movie trailers for The Dark Knight, This Christmas, and Remember That Night as well as three new Uncharted wallpapers.

GHIII Boss Battle Pack Available

Slash and Morello on Guitar Hero

As of right now, you can pick up an awesome new content pack for Guitar Hero III for the Xbox 360. The Boss Battle Track Pack allows you to play against Slash, Tom Morello, and Beelzebub outside of career mode. And the best part is...it's FREE! I can't believe Activision isn't trying to make some money on this one.

BioShock Not Coming To PS3

Bioshock

I guess too many people keep asking 2K if they plan on bringing BioShock to the Playstation 3 and they are getting a little annoyed by having to repeat themselves over and over. A representative on 2K's forum has stated, "There will be no PS3 version of BioShock. It has been explained time and time again." So get over it PS3 owners...or ask again in a few weeks.

Dualshock 3 Confirmed to Rumble With PS2 Games

Dual Shock 3

Thanks to the latest firmware udpate (v2.0), every single Playstation 2 game is now rumble compatible with the upcoming Dualshock 3 controller. So if you own a 60GB or 80GB version of the PS3, you can now play your PS2 games the way they were meant to be played. If you own a 40GB model, you are S.O.L. because you can't play any PS2 games on that system anyway. Oh well, you knew that going into the purchase right?

High Velocity Bowling "Strike" Video

High Velocity Bowling is a new game that is scheduled to come out on the Playstation Network next week. Check out this video and see if you want to buy it.

Problems with "Xbox Originals"

Broken Xbox

Microsoft has already announced on their website that there will be issues with their upcoming "Xbox Originals" program that is scheduled to begin on December 4th. Have a look see:

There are some known issues with Xbox Originals. With all game titles, publisher logos at the start of a game can be choppy on first play when caching. Also, any additional content within a game (such as a demo or trailer) is not supported by Xbox Originals titles and selecting those options may result in crashing the game (requiring a restart of the console).

There are also some issues unique to specific game titles, as follows:

Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge: There is some minor flickering at the top of the screen that happens very rarely. The "Press A to Continue" message is missing when the host player leaves a multiplayer game. Additional content within the game (such as demos & trailers) are not supported and selecting those options may result in crashing the game (requiring a restart of the console)

Fable: There are some random bursts of audio static and some minor texture issues and a short hang up when removing tattoos. Additional content within the game (such as demos & trailers) are not supported and selecting those options may result in crashing the game (requiring a restart of the console)

Fuzion Frenzy: There are some minor frame rate issues. Additional content within the game (such as demos & trailers) are not supported and selecting those options may result in crashing the game (requiring a restart of the console)

Halo: There are some very mild frame rate drops.

Psychonauts: HDMI 720p is not supported for PAL users. Running the game in 720p over HDMI will result in the game locking up for PAL users. If you are using HDMI output, set the resolution to 1080i or 1080p (anything but 720p)

"Xbox Originals" for the 360

Xbox Original

Microsoft is following in the footsteps of it's competitors and will soon be offering download of the their classic games. In a press release sent out by Microsoft, they mentioned the notable titles, Halo, Psychonauts, Crimson Skies and Fable as a few of the title that will be available. The games will be set at a price of 1200 Microsoft points, which is roughly $15. Look for "Xbox Originals" to hit your console on December 4th.

Mario is a Murderer

Mario has gone mad and is on a killing spree.

Two New Games on XBL Today

Microsoft has announced that they will be bringing two new games to Xbox Live Arcade today.

Shrek 'n Roll

The first of the two, Shrek'n Roll, is an arcade puzzle game that will set you back 800 Microsoft points. You get 16 mazes that are set across four different environments throughout Far Far Away. Of course you also get the always funny Shrek humor, so the game should appeal to most audiences.

Screwjumper!

And for Microsoft's 100th addition to the Xbox Live Service, they are releasing Screwjumper! In this game, you have to drive the aliens that have invaded your world back to their own, by entering and destroying 20 different mines on four separate planets. You can pick this one up for 800 Microsoft points as well.

Haze Coming In December

Haze

The highly anticipated, at least by me, "Haze" has been announced to release in December by UbiSoft and Free Radical Design. The only specific release date is for Europe on December 14th, but we (U.S.) usually get our games first or around the same time, so you can probably expect it around that time as well. This is only for the PS3 right now and Ubisoft has not released any details for other platforms as of yet.

Games for Diabetics

Glucoboy

I'm sure being a diabetic as a child can be frustrating, but there is a new game out there that can help. Glucoboy, a device created by Paul Wessel, who is the father of a diabetic thought of the idea when he noticed his son deliberately losing his blood glucose meter because he just hated testing so much. The Glucoboy works by inserting it into a Game Boy Advance or the Game Boy slot in the Nintendo DS systems and rewards kids by giving them extra points to unlock new characters and levels when they test regularly for healthy levels of blood glucose. The game comes with a stand-alone blood glucose meter and contains 2 full length video games and a mini arcade. So far it is only being tested in Australia but they are planning to release it worldwide. Go to the Glucoboy website and sign up to receive any updates if you're interested.

New Alone in the Dark Coming Soon

Alone in the Dark

Atari's next venture in the Alone in the Dark series has been announced to be coming soon to a console near you. Just about any console you own, actually. In addition to the regulars, the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC, you can also expect to pick it up on the Nintendo Wii and Playstation 2. So now everyone can enjoy the scary adventures of Edward Carnby. A firm release date still has not been set.

Super Mario Galaxy "Rolling Green Galaxy"

Ok, I'm sorry, but I just can't stop posting video from Super Mario Galaxy. Here is a level where Mario has to navigate through a wacky golf course.

Halo 3 Soundrack Website Launches

Do you love everything about Halo 3. You do? Even the soundtrack? Well, it looks like there are many more people out there just like you, because there is now a website dedicated solely to the original soundtrack of Halo 3. Martin 0'Donnell and Micheal Salvatori composed and produced the music of Halo 3 and it really is very good. If you want to listen to some of it, head on over to Halo 3 OST where you can sample some of the songs or purchase the album if you like.

Virtual Console Update

If you don't plan on buying Super Mario Galaxy today, because you're crazy, you can pick up the newest releases on the virtual console. First off...Volleyball. I remember this game as a kid and I remember I didn't like it. Maybe you will. Next on the list is AXELAY. This is a really cool looking shooter. Now this game is more my taste. Those graphics were actually pretty damn good. Lastly, you have Blue's Journey. Described as a side scrolling action game, but it looks more like Barney. Looks can be deceiving though. This game could actually be awesome. I doubt it though. Check out the full press release below.

Winter vacation may be weeks away, but there's no need to wait for a fun-filled escape. The latest additions to the Wii Shop Channel can take you to places as familiar as a gymnasium or as fantastical as faraway planets. Fans of sports games, space-age shooters and intergalactic action will all find something to love in this week's lively lineup.

Volleyball on the NES

Volleyball (NES, 1-2 players, rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points): Step onto the court in one of the first volleyball games ever made. Select either the men's or women's competition, choose from one of eight available countries to represent, and prepare for some intensely fun game play. The straightforward controls include all the moves you'll need to effectively direct your six-person team. Take some time mastering them in the training mode, though, because you'll need all the practice you can get when competing against challenging computer opponents. If you feel like some multiplayer action, take on a friend in the two-player mode and see whose skills are more polished. Block, set and spike your way to victory.

AXELAY

AXELAY (Super NES, 1 player, rated E for Everyone ñ Mild Fantasy Violence, 800 Wii Points): Mysterious aliens have invaded the Earth-like planet of Corliss, slowly draining the planet's resources. Take control of the prototype Axelay ship and use its wide range of advanced weaponry to battle enemy forces. Play through multiple stages of action ófrom other planets to space stations ó all on your way to destroying the alien headquarters. You are Corliss' last line of defense, so be careful not to be too distracted by the excellent graphics (including great scrolling effects) and rocking music. Pilot the Axelay using Konami's famously tight play control and experience what many consider to be a classic of the shooter genre.

Blue's Journey

BLUE'S JOURNEY (NEOGEO, 1-2 players, rated E for Everyone, Comic Mischief, 900 Wii Points): The planet of Raguy has been invaded by the Daruma tribe, changing it from a beautiful and peaceful place into one filled with pollution. Released in 1991, this horizontally scrolling action game tells the story of an insectarian named Blue and his quest to save the planet and keep its inhabitants from being turned into slaves. Use Blue's main weapon, a leaf, to flip enemies onto their heads and then throw them at other members of the Daruma tribe, defeating anyone in your way. Additional weapons, such as bombs and boomerangs, are also available, or you can collect flowers to purchase other special items like honey or swim fins. Blue also has the special ability to change his size at will ó if he's too big to fit in a particular area, then shrink him. The bright, colorful graphics, combined with lots of hidden items to find, ensure an enjoyable experience with plenty of replay value. Help Blue muster all his strength and eliminate the Daruma tribe.

Mark Wahlberg To Portray Max Payne

Mark Wahlberg and Max Payne

Variety has reported that FOX's movie adaptation of the game "Max Payne" may star Mark Wahlberg as the lead character. I really liked Max Payne, and now I'll probably end up hating the franchise. It shouldn't be a hard part to play anyway, since Max Payne didn't have much of a personality and Mark Wahlberg isn't much of an actor.

Super Mario Galaxy "Theater" Commercial

Here is another video showing of the extremely fun looking Super Mario Galaxy game for the Wii. I don't think you need any more convincing anyway, right? Oh, and don't forget, Toys R Us is giving away a $25 gift card with purchase of the game. Get it tomorrow!

Daily Reading: Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles Files

Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles

If you have ever played a Resident Evil game, you know that there can be quite a few items that can be read within the game, such as books, and diaries, and notes. Resident Evil Horror is now giving you the option to read every single file from the upcoming "Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles." So if you want to get the reading part out of the way, check them out, and when the game comes out, you can forget about interrupting gameplay with boring notes.

"Hitman" Confirmed to be Rated R

Many a game nerd have been worried about the possible rating of the upcoming "Hitman" movie being PG-13. Well, worry no more! A FOX representative has confirmed that the movie will be given an "R" rating for ""Strong bloody violence, language, and some sexuality/nudity." Let's hope this makes the movie better than is expected from most game to movie adaptations.

New "Check Mii Out" Channel On the Wii

Wii

Nintendo has announced an all new channel for the Wii that is scheduled to go live this weekend. "Check Mii Out" is a new channel that lets people show of their creative skills by submitting their Mii's for everyone to see. Everyone can then vote on your Wii and you can vote on everyone elses.

There are many options available here. If you find one that you really, really like, you can import it into your own system and use it to play games. The contest section gives users the chance to create Mii's that look like specific people, characters, or themes, so that should be fun. If you want to learn more about it, download the new channel in the evening of November 11.

Elder Scrolls Online Might Be Coming

Elder Scrolls Online

In some really awesome news, it has looks even more likely, from an interview with Bethesda's Pete Hines that there will be an MMORPG installment of the extremely popular, and fun, Elder Scrolls. After confirming that the company has received $300 million from Bethesda'a parent company for various projects and the purchase of the Elders Scroll Online domain, this one looks more and more likely.

I know my girfriend won't be happy, if this turns out to be true. I haven't even beaten Oblivion yet. I started that one late in the game though. I should be finished with it soon, I hope...at least before the online Elder Scrolls comes out.

Get a Free Sam & Max Episode

Sam & Max

Telltale Games is offering a free episode of their very funny Sam & Max series in anticipation of the season two. If you want to check it out, which you should, you can go to GamersHell.com. The episode being offered is "Abe Lincoln Must Die," which is the fourth episode of season one. If you need a little more information to get you to download, here is the game description;

In Sam & Max: Abe Lincoln Must Die, after the nation is subjected to federally-mandated group hugs and a horrifying embargo on pudding, Sam & Max are off to Washington D.C. to get control of the demented president. But once they arrive, the political climate only gets stormier and a new power will rise

PS3 Firmware Update v2.00 Coming

Sony has announced that they will be giving PS3 owners a firmware update soon, likely today. First of all, Version 2.00 brings a new icon to your XMB. Once you activate the icon, you'll notice scrolling headlines in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. These headlines will basically deliver news on games, updates, hardware, and more.

On top of this, you also get the "remote start" function that has been talked about recently. This update allows you to turn on your PS3 remotely via the PSP so you don't have to leave it on all the time. Now you can access the media of the PS3 at any time you want, then put the system back in standby mode.

Those are the main features of this update, but there's still more. The new update will give you the ability to set themes on your PS3. This will change everything from backgrounds and icons, to sounds. More features will be announced by Sony later.

Manhunt 2 Pulled From Target Shelves

Manhunt 2

The controversy just won't go away. Target has decided to pull Manhunt 2 from their shelves due to the fact that the PSP game can now be hacked to show the unedited story. I'm not sure if only the PSP version was removed or all of them, but according to a representative of Target,

"Target strives to provide merchandise that will appeal to a wide variety of guests. We also want guests to be comfortable with the purchasing decisions they make at Target. All video games and computer software sold at Target currently carry ratings by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB)--from early childhood through mature audiences. While Manhunt 2 was given a Mature rating by the ERSB, we received additional information that players can potentially view previously filtered content by altering the game code. As a result, we have decided not to carry the game."

So Target has chickened out. Oh well, from my understanding, the game sucks anyway. With all of the controversy surrounding it though, I wouldn't be surprised if it became a best seller.

Save Money on Rock Band

Guess what? There's a great deal on the game. It looks like Costco's website will be selling the Rock Band bundle for $159. That's a whole $10 cheaper than everywhere else. I know it doesn't sound like much, but considering how much you will be spending on games this holiday season, you better start thinking about pinching those pennies early.

Watch Some Classics

There is a new video site on the interwebs and this one is pretty damn cool. Retro Game Videos focuses solely on classic video games and commercials. They currently host quite a few videos and are building up their collection daily. Of course, they also do user submitted videos, so this site is sure to grow quickly once the word gets out. Hopefully anyway, because who really wants to pull out their old Intellivision and start recording? Me!! Thats who. And I hope you do too, jerk.

New PS2 On the Way

Next year will be bringing many things, one of which including a new Playstation 2 console. At least in Japan anyway. It will be available in three colors; charcoal black, ceramic white, and satin silver. Anything to keep bringin' in the money I guess..or to cover the PS3's ass.

Guitar Hero III DLC Coming

Good news for everyone out there who purchased Guitar Hero III recently. Activision has announced that they have plans to release downloadable content for the massively popular game. Three new content packs will be released during November and each one contains three songs. Three songs ain't much though and when Rock Band is out there releasing full albums, Activision may have to adjust their strategy. Considering that Guitar Hero III is marked as Activision's largest launch ever, they probably aren't too worried about it right now.

Two New Games on XBL This Week

If you need an Xbox Live Arcade fix, you only have one more day to wait. Tomorrow two more games will hit the Marketplace.

Switchball

"Switchball" is an arcade action game which will cost 800 Microsoft points. In this game you have to manipulate the physical properties of a ball, such as metal, electrical, and gravitational pull, in order to solve a variety of puzzles.

Word Puzzle

"Word Puzzle" is a 3d puzzle game, which is also 800 Microsoft points. In Word Puzzle, obviously you have to solve puzzles. There are word bombs, combos, 3d game boards, and five unique gameplay modes. If you like puzzle games, this one is definitely for you.

Parents Ground Son; Son Hires Hitman

Some idiotic 17 year old has done something truly stupid and quite shocking as well. Cory Ryder from Leonardtown, Maryland decided to retaliate on his parents after they first took away his Playstation an then threw him out of the house. It seems that this is enough of a reason to hire a hitman to get rid of his parents. That way he can go back home and play his Playstation all day for the rest of his life.

Well, things didn't turn out as planned. The boy offered his dad's pickup truck to the hitman in exchange for the homicide, but the hired killer, of course, turned out to be an undercover police officer. It has been decided that he will be tried as a juvenile and if he is found guilty, he'll only have to serve time up until the age of 21. I wonder if that's enough time for this kid to recuperate, considering that he wanted his parents murdered for taking away his Playstation and booting him out of the house. Jail time just might make him even more vengeful.

Virtual Console Update

This week update includes a game that everybody loves. Super Mario Bros. 3! I remember getting that game for my birthday as a kid and I'm sure my whole family does as well, considered how excited I was. Probably close the reaction of that kid that got a Nintendo 64 for Christmas. I'm sure you've seen the video. Anyway, you also get "Alien Soldier" and "Power Golf." Alien Soldier is a side scrolling shoot 'em up, which looks a lot like Gunstar Heroes so I'm betting that I would love this game, since Gunstar Heroes was so awesome. Power Golf is, well, another golf game. It looks like it might be fun. Here's the full press release from Nintendo.

WII-KLY UPDATE: GREATEST GAME EVER ANNOUNCED FOR WII SHOP CHANNEL

Eagerly awaiting the arrival of Super Mario Galaxy next week? Can't get Mario out of your head? You and everybody else! To whet your appetite for all things Mario, Nintendo is offering a special treat on the Virtual Console this week. It's not just any game, it's Super Mario Bros. 3 ñ considered by many to be the greatest video game of all time (for at least one more week, anyway). It's a must-have title on a week that also features the first Virtual Console import title for Sega Genesis and a fun multiplayer golf game for TurboGrafx16.

Today Nintendo adds three new classic games to the popular Wii video game system's Wii Shop Channel. The games go live at 9 a.m. Pacific time. Nintendo adds new games to the channel every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased via the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week's new games are:

Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points): Remember when no one had ever heard of a Tanooki Suit or knew that Bowser had a clan of Koopalings? The game that made these things common knowledge is also considered by many to be one of the best ever made. Bowser and the Koopalings are causing chaos yet again, but this time they're going beyond the Mushroom Kingdom into the seven worlds that neighbor it. Now Mario and Luigi must battle new enemies, returning favorites and a new Koopaling in each unique and distinctive world on their way to ultimately taking on Bowser himself. Luckily for the brothers, they have more power-ups available than ever before. Fly above the action using the Super Leaf, swim faster by donning the Frog Suit or defeat enemies using the Hammer Bros. Suit. Use the brand-new overworld map to take the chance to play a minigame in hopes of gaining extra lives or to find a Toad's House where you can pick up additional items. All this (and more) combines into one of gaming's most well-known and beloved titlesóare you ready to experience gaming bliss?

Alien Soldier (Sega Genesis, 1 player, Rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older ñFantasy Violence, 900 Wii Points): As Epsilon-Eagle, you are an alien soldier who has been genetically engineered to produce maximum intelligence and strength. You were once a member of the criminal organization Scarlet, but when you decided to break from the group, you were forced into a showdown with Scarlet's new leader Xi-Tiger, who kills a hostage in his attempt to destroy you. Now it's up to you to take revenge against the bad guys in this side-scrolling action game! Choose from six different weapons and battle the bosses of Scarlet until you reach the final confrontation with the ultimate secret weapon!

Power Golf (TurboGrafx16, 1-3 players, Rated E for Everyone, 600 Wii Points): Power Golf sports a perfect combination of simple-yet-realistic controls and beautiful graphics. Swing away on 18 lush holes in one of three different game modes: the single-player STROKE PLAY mode and the multiplayer MATCH PLAY and COMPETITION modes. Enter tournaments as one of three different charactersóbeginner, intermediate and advanced. Wind strength and the slope of the green add extra challenges to each hole. Compete against other players in the standard NORMAL MATCH or ante up one of your clubs in the unique CLUB MATCH. Up to three players can play in COMPETITION mode, and a handicap feature is included to help novice players pull off breathtaking shots just like their advanced rivals.

Blacksite: Area 51 "Explosions"

How 'bout another "Blacksite" trailer? This looks like it's really gonna be awesome. I hope so anyway. Check it out.

Great Toys "R" Us Super Mario Galaxy Deal

If you plan on picking up Super Mario Galaxy next week, which of course you are, you should be on the lookout for a great deal. A great deal such as this one; Toys R Us will be giving out a free $25 gift card with the purchase of the game "in-store." I know of a Toy R Us store that isn't usually packed so hopefully I'm lucky enough to get this deal without much hassle. You know, from annoying little kids trying to get their copies.

Manhunt 2: See What You're Missing

If you purchased Manhunt 2 and would like to know what you were really supposed to be seeing when you're mutilating somebody, check out this video. It's a collection of uncut scenes from the the hacked PSP version of the game.

November 2, 2007

PSN Update

Another classic game on the Playstation Store this week. You can pick up Twisted Metal 2, and for only $5.99 too. That's a great price for such a good game. For more gaming fun, there are two new demos. The awesome looking FPS "TimeShift" and a demo for the street racing game "NFS Prostreet." There is also a whole bunch of add-on content for "The Godfather."

The game videos this week consist of a whole bunch of videos:

  • Uncharted "Massive" Trailer
  • GT5 Prologue TGS video
  • NFS ProStreet TV Spot
  • Burnout "Annihilator" Trailer
  • Burnout "Hawker" Trailer
  • Burnout "Roadster" Trailer
  • Beowulf the Game Trailer
  • Playstation Eye Video

Movie Trailers:

  • The Bucket List Trailer
  • Close Encounters

Rock Band Available Already

If you want "Rock Band", you can pick them up already it seems, the only setback being that it is incomplete. It looks like some stores have been "accidentally" selling their demo versions of the game, thinking they are full versions or something. These demos versions don't have complete drum sets and are missing the kick pedal, meaning that the bass drum is stuck on autoplay. Some are also missing microphones and the full retail version of the game is not included. Just wait for the full versions to come out on the 20th. It's not that long...or go to eBay if you can't wait.

Gametap Giving Away Hitman Games

You better head on over to Gametap right away. During the month of November, most of the games in the Hitman series will available to play for free for Gametap subscribers. Hitman is available right now and Hitman 2: Silent Assassin will be available soon. Hitman: Contracts will be available on November 15th. Play em all, while you have the chance.

Overlord Xbox 360 Content Packs Coming

Codemasters has sent out a press release stating plans to release several downloadable content updates for Overlord on the Xbox 360. There will be a total of three content packs that will be available throughout November, one of which will be free and will add an all new multiplayer map and split screen modes. Keep those eyes peeled.

Uncharted Demo Coming Next Week

After all of the promotion that Uncharted: Drake's Fortune has received, there are probably a ton of people who are excited to play it. Your chance for that comes next week. Sony has promised that a demo for the game will be available next Thursday, November 8th. Actually, I am not really all that excited to play this game. It just doesn't look as great as everyone else seems to think it is. Hopefully I am wrong and it becomes the single greatest gaming experience I have ever had in my entire life.

Resistance: Fall of Man Patch

The new patch includes many new things:

  • Range and damage on the Rossmore 236 has been decreased for both primary and secondary fire modes

New XBL Game: Mutant Storm Empire

Mutant Storm Empire is now available for download on Xbox Live Arcade. You are the hero in this game, of course, and you must fight your way through the evil emperor's minions. There are four worlds for you to adventure in, either by yourself or co-operatively with a friend. You can pick this up for 800 Microsoft points.

MGS4 Delayed

The last thing that Playstation 3 owners want to hear is that one of the games they are anxiously waiting for has been delayed. For the second time no less. Yup. Metal Gear Solid 4 has been delayed twice now and should be available sometime in the second quarter of 2008. The official press release states that the delay is due to the game needing "further improvements to the quality." Well, if you put it that way...

Uncharted Halloween Treat

For a special holiday treat, there is a new Uncharted: Drake's Fortune trailer up on the Playstation Blog. Along with the video comes news that the game will also be available a day earlier on November 19th.
