The popular song from Portal, “Still Alive” from John Coulton is scheduled for release for Rock Band this week on the Xbox 360 and it will be completely free. Since their will be no content added to the Playstation Store until it’s re-launch, PS3 owners will have to wait for a few weeks still. Unless it’ll be available through the Rock Band in-game store, which is doubtful.

According to a post on the Playstation Blog, the Playstation Store update is right around the corner. Mid-April is the date given. The new store looks to be much more maneuverable and navigation friendly. This will be highly welcomed in my household. The only bad part about this update is that there will be no content added to the store from now up until the update of the store. Once the Playstation Store re-opens, content will start to reappear. I’m really looking forward to it.

Two more games have been added to the Virtual Console this week. The one worth mentioning is Wonder Boy. This game comes from the Sega Master System, meaning this game really is a vintage title. Not a bad choice. The second game being offered this week is Cruis’n USA. Not much to say about this one. You probably remember it as a racing game where the only thing really exciting was the ability to do a wheelie in the car during a burnout. Weeeeee! Check out the full press release below.
It’s a week of fun-filled firsts at the Wii™ Shop Channel. Each of the latest game offerings represents the first title in a memorable series that has influenced many subsequent titles over the years. Whether you prefer high-speed drives or side-scrolling adventures, it’s clear that these classic games have lasting appeal. What’s more, Wonder Boy is the first-ever Sega Master System title to be made available via Virtual Console.

Surprisingly, there are a few people in this world who hate Super Mario Galaxy, and Old Grandma Hardcore is one of them. She actually seems to hate it, not just dislike it.
“I hate this fucking game. I feel so stupid playing it, it’s a kid’s game for fuck’s sake and I can’t.. get.. the fucking… CANNON to line up- GODDAMMIT!”
That sucks. I thought the game was a lot of fun. I guess everyone couldn’t like it though.

If you live in an Xbox Live region anywhere outside of North America, Austria, Asia, and Germany, you can play this demo. Which gets me thinking…why would I even post this?

If you purchased Condemned 2 for the Playstation 3, you may have noticed some audio issues with the game. More specifically, the sound is dropping or will “snap.” Sega has stated that they know of the issue and are working on a fix, and that if you are experiencing the problems, you should try switching the HDMI cable to AV. That’s a crappy solution, but at least the sound will stay intact.

You see video game themed cakes and baked goods all the time on the internet, so I think it’s about time you try it for yourself. David Hayward originally created these 1UP cakes for the one year anniversary of a Nintendo DS night where he lives and decided that everyone else should experience the fun as well and has let loose his recipe upon the world. Check out his blog for the link.

So, what would Super Smash Bros look like had it landed on the NES? Nobody knows, but the character selection screen would be fairly awesome. I would love to play this.

If you work in the video game industry, you should network with others in your field. Today Bruce Everiss, of Bruce on Games, sent out an invitation to network with him through LinkedIn. What a great way to socialize with other people who have the same interest. Who, knows, you may even meet some contacts somewhere down the line who can get you in the biz.
