Due to time constraints, this blog will now aggregate news from various top sources for video game news in order to keep you better informed much quicker than I can myself. Thanks for visiting the site!
I’m a huge Prince of Persia fan, so this is great news to me. It’s been known already that a new Prince of Persia would be here before Spring of next year, but Ubisoft announced today that the latest game in the series will be released this holiday season for the Xbox 360, PC, and Playstation 3. They’ve also announced another Prince of Persia game will be coming soon to the Nintendo DS. No other details were released, but I’m very excited for both of the games announced.
A new patch was just released on Friday for Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds for the Playstation 3, in case you haven’t noticed yet. The patch contained a pair of new online play modes; Stroke and Match Play. There’s also a new exploration feature which will let you travel around the courses during online play and taunt competitors between turns. Great update!
The game hasn’t even come out yet and there’s already a user generated radio station for Grand Theft Auto IV. Even Merz has been collecting songs from unsigned indie rock bands on the internet for the past month and has even added his own DJ dialogue to keep the station interesting. The set lasts about an hour so this should be enough to keep you entertained while your simulating cop murder, so would say Jack Thompson.
You probably won’t be able to have custom soundtracks in the PS3 version, but you will be able to stream the music on the PC and in the XMB on the Xbox 360. Anyway, download the MP3 from Evan’s blog at This is Not a Label, then pick up GTAIV at midnight tonight at Best Buy. Put the two together and have a wonderful day off from work tomorrow.
Art student, Marcus Blattermann was inspired by the “Real Mario” done by the guys at Pixeloo and decided to make his own…masterpiece. It’s an awesome job, all done in Photoshop, but he’s just weird looking. Almost not scary anymore. Props to the artist though.
Only one game this week, but it’s a good one, so I’ll let it slide. So Billy’s girlfriend was kidnapped and in exchange the bad guys want to know his fighting secrets? If you go by the moves that are available in the game, the Black Warriors only have to learn to jab, uppercut, and kick awkwardly and then they’ll have all the secrets. Anyway, this game really is a great one. You should probably pick it up. Here’s the full press release.
There’s one new game for the Virtual Console this week - and it’s a double. Double Dragon is a true action-fighting classic. This side-scroller brought the arcade original into the home and laid the groundwork for numerous sequels. It’ll get your nostalgia engine fired up. Now go put the hurt on some bad guys and save Marian.
I certainly don’t plan on buying this game but I was interested to see what 50 Cent 2 looked like, so I’m posting the trailer here in case you are too. The trailer is actually kind of cool though.
Hell no. Nintendo knows that people are snatching their Wii systems up as soon as they hit the shelves and plenty of people are still picking up the DS daily. There’s no reason to drop the price. According to Satoru Iwata, “Our earnings projection for the year is not based on hardware price cuts, and I don’t think we are going to need them.”
As confirmed by EA Sports, Brett Favre will be gracing the fine covers of the upcoming Madden NFL 09. The retired QB of the Green Bay Packers deserves it, as hard as he’s played all these years. One question though. Usually when a player dons the cover of the game, he’s injured somehow during the next football season. So what happens to someone who isn’t playing? Is he gonna fall down some stairs or die in a horrible pancake making fire? Let’s hope not.
Looks like Amazon just loves pleasing us gamers, since they’ve been doing lots of video game days on the Amazon Gold Box page, today being no exception. Head on over there right now and you can pick up Advance Wars: Days of Ruin for the Nintendo DS. Keep checking up throughout the day to see what else they’ll have to offer.
