Good Sunday evening to you!
As you’re reading this, your PlayStation.Blog team is currently neck deep in tamales at our E3 Meet-up. As attendees showed up, we not only invited the first 100 into our press conference, we also presented the first 200 with an Uncharted 2 Nathan Drake-style long-sleeve shirt, perfect for a half-tuck. While I’m sure we’re having a lot of fun (we’ll report back soon, with pics), we don’t want those of you who couldn’t make it to feel left out.
While we were planning this meetup, we decided to “over order” the schwag: extra Uncharted 2 beta codes, extra shirts, and of course, extra schwag bags. Whoops!

There's one in every crowd.
While the video game press is generally enraptured by the prospect of E3 returning to its former glory, Cnet's Dan Ackerman serves up a cautionary note, saying that this year's expo "may be too little, too late."
Ackerman explains:
The 2009 version of E3 is being unofficially billed as a return to form... Of course, many of these grand plans were hatched before the current economic recession hit, and some of these game companies may be experiencing buyer's remorse over investing so heavily in an E3 show modeled on the free-spending glory days.
We're eager to see how excessive the show's booths are (previous years resembled an arms race to see who could build the biggest, most ostentatious display), and whether the game publishers will feel like they got their money's worth from their sizable investment -- which is why the show was scaled back three years ago in the first place... If not, this could very well be E3's third strike, and the end of a 15-year run.

With E3 on our doorstep, we won’t be doing our usual “This Week on PSB” post tomorrow morning (plus we’ve got a cool update hitting around that time, anyway). That said, here’s what you’ll see on PlayStation.Blog this week:
- Meet-up Tonight! - For those of you planning on attending the event, make sure to get there early! Based on RSVPs, we’re already looking pretty packed, and you’ll want to try to win what we’re giving out!
- E3 “The Home Game” - We know that as much as you’d all like to be at E3 this week, that’s just not realistic for most people. For those of you that can’t make it out to LA for the meet-up, we’ve set aside some cool schwag. How do you win it? We’ll tell you on the blog later tonight.
- Press Conference Live coverage - We’ll be liveblogging the PlayStation press conference on Tuesday morning (11am Pacific), and follow that up with posts from some of the top brass here at SCEA.
- After that? Lots and lots of posts and videos featuring the latest details on upcoming games and news from the show floor. You’ll definitely want to keep an eye on our Twitter account, as we’ll be posting bite-sized updates and pics throughout the week there as well.
I’m off to the airport now, but it’s going to be a very fun and exciting week… I hope you’ll be joining us!
