If you have a Samsung TV or use Amazon Fire, you’ve likely enjoyed the 24/7 streaming of game content on IGN1, a channel provided by IGN. The channel disappeared on the evening of December 28, 2024. After the channel switched off, Samsung TV users were redirected to a new channel – Movie Hub (as I was).
In a Reddit thread, someone who seemed to have insider information, claimed that Samsung and IGN were working on the contract and that the channel would remain down in the meantime, but would be back within a month. This seemed to ease the minds of everyone else in the thread.
I don’t know if this person actually had any insider information or if contract negotiations failed in the following days after this post, but a producer at IGN, who is also IGN1’s content programmer, provided an official update on January 4th, 2025.
So that’s it for IGN1, it seems.
You can still watch it on Sling TV for free by downloading their app, which is available on most devices, or by streaming from your browser, but that means you have to access an additional app and search for IGN1 to watch it, so it’s a bit more cumbersome to use.
IGN1 also used to be on Roku, Pluto, Vizio, and Plex, but has left those services in the last few years, so I don’t imagine it lasting much longer on Sling either. Bummer.
