Grand Theft Auto IV Gets a Patch

GTA IV Multiplayer
There are quite a few glitches contained within the wildly fun ride that is Grand Theft Auto IV, and a patch has just been released to help fix quite a few of them. This patch is for both the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3, so everyone should be happy. Here’s the change list:

  • Fixed an issue where players were unable to enter or exit vehicles in GTA Race.
  • Fixed an issue where scripted vehicles were causing games to unexpectedly crash.
  • Improved reliability and frequency of PS3 online leaderboard updates.
  • Fixed a rare hang some players encountered when moving from a Race or GTA Race lobby into gameplay.
  • Fixed a hang that would occur when players were switching teams during the countdown in the lobby.
  • Fixed an issue where players were able to get ridiculously high scores from Cops ‘n Crooks matches.
  • Changed GTA Race and Race so that the last player remaining always receives a reward of $250.
  • Fixed an issue where spectating players would prevent the game from finishing.
  • Fixed an issue where players were unable to spectate in Round 2 of Cops ‘n Crooks games.
  • Changed countdown timer in lobby so that it no longer resets when new players join a game.
  • Changed the kick option so that kicked players are no longer brought back to single player.

GTAIV Comparison

Everyone’s wondering what the difference is between the Xbox 360 version and Playstation 3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV. Not much really, but check out the video comparison below and judge for yourself.

Man Beats World Record For Longest Gameplay

GTAIV Record Holder

Jim, from BushleagueTV was attempting to defeat the world record for longest gameplay of Grand Theft Auto, which was set at 25 hours straight, and last night, he did it. The record was beaten at 6:30pm last night but he kept playing until 9pm for good measure. Good job Jim. See you when you wake up next week.

Here are a few statistics:

25.27% of the game was completed
Killed 10 people with bare hands
Shot to death 31 times
$50.00 most spent on date
34 missions passed

GTAIV to Have 1 Month Xbox Live Free

GTAIV Xbox 360 Cover

If you plan on purchasing Grand Theft Auto IV or already have on the Xbox 360, you’ll be pleased to know that the game comes with a full free month of the Xbox Live service. Looks like Microsoft is giving all kinds of incentives to buy their version of the game.

New Radio Station for GTAIV

The game hasn’t even come out yet and there’s already a user generated radio station for Grand Theft Auto IV. Even Merz has been collecting songs from unsigned indie rock bands on the internet for the past month and has even added his own DJ dialogue to keep the station interesting. The set lasts about an hour so this should be enough to keep you entertained while your simulating cop murder, so would say Jack Thompson.

You probably won’t be able to have custom soundtracks in the PS3 version, but you will be able to stream the music on the PC and in the XMB on the Xbox 360. Anyway, download the MP3 from Evan’s blog at This is Not a Label, then pick up GTAIV at midnight tonight at Best Buy. Put the two together and have a wonderful day off from work tomorrow.

GTAIV Has Gone Gold

GTAIV Coming Soon Photo

Take-Two has confirmed today that Grand Theft Auto IV is “Gold” and is ready to be shipped. Shipping will commence shortly before the release date of April 29th. People are saying that this game is going to outsell Halo, which had some crazy numbers, and I think it’s very possible. I know I’m buying it, as well as everyone else I know who has an Xbox 360 or Playstation 3. Damn, I can’t wait.

Why Was GTAIV Censored in Australia?

Rockstar Games has given an explanation to the “special” edition of Grand Theft Auto IV that Australians will be playing soon. By special, I mean crap, but I digress. The reason is that Australia doesn’t have an R18+ rating available from the Office of Film and Literature Classification. Rockstar has stated that there are only minor differences between the US/EU and Australia versions and that the changes not significant at all. I’m not sure how much I believe that though.

Australians Getting Edited GTAIV

GTAIV Edited

In some sad, but not surprising news for Australians concerning Grand Theft Auto IV, the game will be edited. Rockstar has confirmed that they have made a special edition of the game to comply with Australia’s classification system. Currently Australia doesn’t have an R18+ rating, but many people are arguing that one should be created, mostly for reasons such as this. As of now, Rockstar has not made any statements about what content has been cut from the game, but I’m sure it’s all the good parts.
