Memmmmmorieeees!!!

Super Punch Out and Earthbound

If you are old enough to have enjoyed the SNES in it’s prime, you probably have memories of some really great games. I came across these two walkthroughs on IGN’s website and just had to post them; Super Punch Out and Earthbound. I think I might actually pull out of SNES and use them.

New DLC For Rock Band

There will be some new downloadable songs for Rock Band this week and as usual, they will cost 160 Microsoft points on the Xbox 360 or $1.99 on the Playstation 3. Look for the PS3 downloads on Thursday. Here are your choices.

  • Cover of “Number of the Beast” – Iron Maiden
  • “Die, All Right!” – The Hives
  • “Interstate Love Song” – Stone Temple Pilots

Super Mario Doom

What would Super Mario Bros. be like if it were designed by the makers of Doom? Kinda crappy actually, if this video is any indication. Funny nonetheless. It would probably be fun for a while though.

New Map Pack for Stranglehold

Stranglehold Xbox 360 Cover
Midway has released a new map pack for Stranglehold today. The new pack contains 10 additional multiplayer maps and 21 new multiplayer character skins. The Xbox 360 version also comes with 10 new achievements. I’m not sure when the pack will be released for the Playstation 3 though. Hopefully later today and not during the next Playstation Store update.

Mad Catz to Make Rock Band Peripherals

Mad Catz Logo

Mad Catz, the 3rd party peripheral manufacturers, have announced that they have reached a licensing agreement for three years in which Mad Catz have the right to produce and distribute game peripherals for Rock Band. This includes the production of both wired and wireless bass guitars, a drum set, and a wired microphone. Since there aren’t Rock Band compatible guitars that you can purchase separately for the game right now, this is some good news.

Full Game Download on DS Not True

Nintendo DS

It looks like the recent interview the New York Times did with Reggie Fils-Aime about the DS getting full game downloads from the Wii is false. The original goal was for Wii-to-DS downloads to limited only to demos and Nintendo announced today that those limitations are still what they have in mind.

A representative from Nintendo has stated that “Users can download games to play on Wii, and, in the future, the Nintendo DS will be able to receive demo versions of some DS games from Wii, but not the entire game. The demo will be erased once the Nintendo DS is turned off.” Well, that sucks. Oh well.

Get a Free XBLA Game

If you own an Xbox 360, you’ve likely noticed that the Xbox Live service has been having serious technical problems over the holidays. Marc Whitten, the GM of the Xbox Live service has stated that this is due to the “massive increase in usage” from new members. So, as an apology for the downtime and a thank you for using the service they will be offering all Xbox Live Arcade members a free XBLA game in the coming weeks. They will be providing more details at a later time.

Pre-Register For Wii GH3 Replacement Discs

If you hate that mono sound that comes out that Guitar Hero III disc on your Wii, those replacement discs are only a phone call away. Actually, the phone call will just get you one step closer. If you call (866) 780-8286 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST Monday through Friday, you can pre-register so that the company will call and let you know when the discs are available. You can learn more here.

MGS4 360 Rumor…Just a Rumor

That’s right, the rumor about Metal Gear Solid 4 coming to the Xbox 360 has once again, been proven to be false. Michael Shelling of Konami has made a statement saying “For the record, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a PlayStation 3 exclusive and there are no plans to develop an Xbox 360 version of the game.” So take that…rumor starting…people…of…stuff.

Playstation Network Update
