Xbox 360 HD DVD Player Gets an Update

Xbox 360 HD DVD Player

Despite the fact that HD DVD is officially dead, Microsoft is still dedicated to keeping their gamers who have purchased the failed technology as happy as possible. There is now an auto update available, which you’ll see the next time you are signed in to Xbox Live that will give you compatibility improvements with certain titles and additional support for network features.

Blu-Ray Vs. HD DVD: The War’s Over

Well, that’s it folks. The war over the next-generation video format is over. Toshiba has officially announced that they will no longer be supporting the HD DVD format. I think we all knew it was coming as of recently. Best Buy began supporting Blu-ray, Netflix dropped the HD DVD, and the killer; Walmart. When Walmart dropped HD DVD support, that was the final touch. Oh yeah, EB Games/Gamestop will also no longer be taking HD DVD’s or the players for the 360 either.

I wonder how many people are really on the fence about buying a next-gen gaming console due to the format wars. We just might see a huge jump in the numbers for Sony soon.
