New PS3 Firmware Update Coming Soon

Sony has just announced a new firmware update, which according to them, will be coming within the next few days. The big thing that the update includes is support for the Blu-ray Disc Profile 2.0 and will let you connect to the internet while playing discs that support Profile 2.0 so that additional content can be accessed.

On top of this, the firmware also includes the ability to copy PS3 music and photo playlists to the PSP, you can play DivX and WMV format files larger than 2GB, use the PSP as a remote control on your PS3 to play back music files, resume play for movies, and a faster loading internet browser. Lots of stuff there.

Small PS3 Firmware Update

If you’ve turned on your PS3 in recent hours, you’ll have noticed that there is a new firmware update available. Firmware update v2.17 doesn’t do much, but it does upgrade the operating stability in some online Playstation 3 titles. Groovy.
