Playstation Store Update

echochrome

Another fun-filled Playstation Store update. The big download this week is echochrome. Have you tried the demo yet? It was a bit hard for me, but I’m a dummy. Anyway, there’s also some add-ons for Rock Band and Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore, a demo for Dark Sector, a whole bunch of game videos and some new wallpapers. If you want the full details, hit up the “Featured Section” of the Playstation Store or visit the Playstation Blog.

GTAIV Comparison

Everyone’s wondering what the difference is between the Xbox 360 version and Playstation 3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV. Not much really, but check out the video comparison below and judge for yourself.

New Content in Metal Gear Online Already

Metal Gear Online Midtown Maelstrom

Good news for those of you in the Metal Gear Online Beta. New Content! There is a new map titled Midtown Maelstrom and a new gametype rule, called Sneaking Mission. Both are live right now. There are also several other minor updates and changes to the game so head on over to the Playstation Blog to learn more about it.

Hot Shots Golf PS3 Update

Hot Shots Golf 5

A new patch was just released on Friday for Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds for the Playstation 3, in case you haven’t noticed yet. The patch contained a pair of new online play modes; Stroke and Match Play. There’s also a new exploration feature which will let you travel around the courses during online play and taunt competitors between turns. Great update!

New Radio Station for GTAIV

The game hasn’t even come out yet and there’s already a user generated radio station for Grand Theft Auto IV. Even Merz has been collecting songs from unsigned indie rock bands on the internet for the past month and has even added his own DJ dialogue to keep the station interesting. The set lasts about an hour so this should be enough to keep you entertained while your simulating cop murder, so would say Jack Thompson.

You probably won’t be able to have custom soundtracks in the PS3 version, but you will be able to stream the music on the PC and in the XMB on the Xbox 360. Anyway, download the MP3 from Evan’s blog at This is Not a Label, then pick up GTAIV at midnight tonight at Best Buy. Put the two together and have a wonderful day off from work tomorrow.

Next Weeks Rock Band Update

The Mother Hips

For some reason, next weeks Rock Band update isn’t bundled in a content pack, as far as I know, but here’s what you get for $1.99 each.

  • The Mother Hips – “Red Tandy”
  • The Mother Hips – “Time Sick Son of a Grizzly Bear”
  • Smashing Pumpkins – “Zero”

Playstation Store Update

echochrome

The Playstation Store has lots more stuff for you again this week. Some real good stuff actually. You can get R-TYPE 1 and 2 bundled for only $5.99, and there’s a whole lot of add-ons, including the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare map pack and the full Judas Priest “Screaming for Vengeance” album for Rock Band.

On top of all this is the echochrome demo and Iron Man demo. All of this stuff should keep you fairly busy until next week when the big releases come out. Oh, and there are a bunch of game videos too, such as for PROTOTYPE, GT5 Prologue, and Resistance 2. If you want all the details, check out the listing on the Playstation Blog.

Playstation Home Open Beta Delayed

Playstation Home Logo

It feels like forever waiting for Playstation Home to be released to the public, and now it’s gonna feel like even longer, because Sony has delayed it to the Fall.

Kazuo Hirai, President of SCEI has stated,”We understand that we are asking PS3 and prospective PS3 users to wait a bit longer, but we have come to the conclusion that we need more time to refine the service to ensure a more focused gaming entertainment experience than what it is today.”

Well, if it ain’t ready, it just ain’t ready. Let’s hope there are no more delays on the Playstation Home though. I’m ready to start playing games through this thing.

Burnout Paradise Will Have Custom Soundtracks

Burnout Paradise

Criterion has announced that they will be unleashing an awesome update to Burnout Paradise which will allow the player to create a custom soundtrack on the Playstation 3 version of the game. Using the Easy Drive in-game menu, you will be able to select your own collection of tracks that you’ve uploaded to your system.

Metal Gear Online Beta Delayed

Metal Gear Online

If you happen to be one of the lucky players included in the Metal Gear Online Beta, today isn’t your lucky day, as Konami has delayed the beta.

On the Metal Gear Online website, it states “we regret to inform you that due to extraordinary levels of traffic from all around the globe, we have been unable to run the service to the level we expected.”

So they will be delaying the start date until servers stabilize. An announcement is expected from Konami sometime tomorrow. The ending date has also been pushed to a later date as well, which will now be May 11th instead of May 6th.
