Itagaki is Leaving Tecmo!?!

If you’re a big fan of the Ninja Gaiden or Dead or Alive franchise, you’ve likely heard of Tobonobu Itagaki, and you have some sad news ahead of you. Itagaki is the lead over at Team Ninja and it seems that there are some irreconcilable circumstances between him and the president of Tecmo. Below is an excerpt of what was posted by Itagaki himself.

To All Game Fans,

“I truly feel sorry to all the fans of the games I have made. Ninja Gaiden 2, which will launch on the 3rd of June will be the last Ninja Gaiden I will create. I will also never be able to make Dead or Alive 5. I regret the circumstances that have forced me to leave Tecmo, where I had worked for so many years, and I regret the disappointment this will cause my fans. However, I can no longer continue to work with President Yoshimi Yasuda, a man who chooses not to honor promises even when he is able to do so. I truly hope that nothing like this happens again in the future.

It seems this stems from Yoshima Yasuda failing to pay Itagaki a promised sum of money upon completion of Dead or Alive 4. If you want the full story, check out 1up’s James Mielke’s blog.

Mario Kart Wii Tournament

The latest online tournament for Mario Kart Wii brings a very special surprise, in the form of a new track and game mode. The new track, Galaxy Colosseum, is extremely basic and is just a round disc, but it’s a new track nonetheless. It also contains a new Boss Attack mode though.

This tournament lasts until June 9th and there’s no word yet if the track will still be available after the tournament, so you better just log on and grab while it’s there. Then join the tournament, and show us your competitive side!

Street Fighter IV TV Commercial

Did you watch the MMA fights on CBS last night? If you didn’t, you missed out on some great action. Kimbo Slice kicked some ass, but he took a beating himself too. You also probably missed the very first Street Fighter IV commercial to air on TV too, since it aired after the fights. After the commercial aired, the StreetFighter.com website went live as well, so you can check that out now too. Here’s the video.

In-Game XMB Coming to PS3?

Playstation 3 owners have been waiting patiently for the long time and often promised in-game XMB, and rumor has it that this functionality may soon be appearing in the next firmware upgrade. I certainly hope so, because it’s really been long enough, in my wonderful opinion.

Saints Row 2 Gets a Delay

According to a report from Reuters, the upcoming sequel from THQ, Saints Row 2 is getting a delay of two months. This is due in part to product quality and marketing considerations. The game was supposed to launch on August 26, but will now see a release date of October 14. So that sucks.

First Footage of Guitar Hero World Tour

It seems that the first footage of Guitar Hero World Tour is out and it’s very much like Rock Band. Very much as in pretty much identical. I guess that’s not bad though. I wonder it Harmonix has a lawsuit planned after all of the crap that Activision put them through with Rock Band.

The beginning of the video is funny too, because when Activision CEO Bobby Kotick introduces the game, he says “the first time you’ll have multiple instruments, ” and Kara Swisher says “It’s called Rock Band, I think.” Ha ha. We ain’t stupid Activision. The game does look fun though, but I’m not ready to spend another $190 on a variation of a game I already own. Anyway, check out the video with Tony Hawk playing guitar and Paula Abdul judging the performance.

Prince of Persia Trailer

Not only do we get a trailer for Beyond Good & Evil 2, but also for the newest Prince of Persia. No gameplay, but good anyway. Dramatic enough to get me pumped for the game.

Beyond Good & Evil 2 Teaser

It was sort of a rumor that there was going to be second iteration in the Beyond Good & Evil series, but now we know it’s true, because there’s a teaser trailer. Check it out.
